crush of the week...

this weeks crush is brandon boyd! singer, songwriter, musician, writer, painter, photographer, genius, tattooed, hottie. brandon is the frontman for the grammy-nominated band incubus. incubus has released 6 studio albums since 1995, with additional live and compilation albums. they also have several dvd's... i own them all ;) in 2010 brandon released his first solo album called 'the wild trapeze'. he is maybe my favorite songwriter. his lyrics are so original, so creative, so amazing. i have a 'bathroom ipod' that i only play when i'm in the shower. 95% of the songs on there are incubus songs. i have some pretty enthusiastic shower concerts, thanks to them. haha. but, he's not just a musician... brandon has released 2 books filled with journal entries, paintings, sketches and other random writings. in his time off from music, he loves to paint... and he's REALLY good at it! he often donates his paintings to be auctioned off to raise money for different charities. brandon also, along with his bandmates, started an organization called THE MAKE YOURSELF FOUNDATION which funds various environmental causes and charities.
he is an amazing artist! he is an amazing lyricist! he is an amazing guy!

it was hard for me to choose which pics to put on here, and what to write in the intro. i've loved the band for yearrrrs, and i've had a crush on brandon since before i met my husband. he is easily my #2 crush of a lifetime... you know who the 1st is. one day i WILL meet him. i WILL get a pic with him. and i WILL maybe probably be arrested & slapped with a restraining order when he tries to leave and i won't let go of his arm. 

brandon has a birthday coming up. he'll be 35 on feb. 15.

my usual brekky...

i don't know why i think anybody would care... but i thought i'd take a pic of my breakfast this morning. i eat the same thing almost every morning. i guess i'm a creature of habit. when i find something i like, i stick to it. i don't know how/when this breakfast obsession started, but i've been eating it for years! my mom thinks it's totally disgusting. the first time she saw me making it (probably 6 years ago) she FREAKED OUT! she was running around the kitchen saying "OH MY GOSH, you're pregnant!!!! you're pregnant!!!". i was soooo confused. i said "what the heck are you talking about?!?!? what is wrong with you?" and she said "only a pregnant person would think to make something that bizarre for breakfast! that's DISGUSTING!!!! oh my gosh, you're pregnant!" she quickly grabbed her camera and took a picture of me making it, and took a picture of the food right before i took my first bite. apparently she wanted to document my first 'pregnancy craving'?! who knows?! i was laughing the whole time, telling her she was nuts. hubby walked in the kitchen and said "what is going on???". mom says "LOOK what she's making! she's gotta be pregnant!". my poor, poor mom :( hubby said "she eats that all the time. she's not pregnant".

is it really that weird?!?! i've heard elvis' favorite sandwich was peanut butter, banana and bacon. i think the bacon part is weird... but who am i to judge?! there is NOTHING weird about toast with pb and banana... and if you want some extra sweetness, it's good with honey drizzled on it. yum yum yummmm!

crush of the week...

this weeks crush is jake gyllenhaal! actor, nice guy, hottie. jake's first movie role was playing billy crystal's son in city slickers (jake was 10). he's done 18 movies since then, and has been nominated for teen choice awards, SAG awards, an academy award and most recently nominated for a golden globe. he's won 2 mtv movie awards for brokeback mountain - best performance and best kiss (with heath ledger!). ok, i'll quit talking and get to the pics.

i think he gets better looking the older he gets. he grew his hair out and got beastly muscular for the movie 'prince of persia'. i tried to find a pic to put here, but every time i'd find a set of shirtless pics, i'd get distracted and couldn't pick just 1. seriously. you'll have to google those yourself. sorry.

guess what else?!? he loooooves animals :) yep, it's a no-brainer that he's gonna be on 'dudes and dogs' next week. hopefully you don't mind another blog post with more pics of him, i know it's torture.

i'm not crazy, and neither am i...

don't let this scare you... but, i have a strange fascination with old insane asylums. i think it's more about the architecture than the mentally unstable patients that inhabit them. i looooove the old asylum buildings from the late 1800's, they're amazing! sadly, most of them have been abandoned or demolished. i would love to visit some and take pictures. i'd most likely just admire them from the outside, i'm not sure i could wander through the dark, abandoned hallways. check these pics out, aren't they beautiful?

there is a movie called 'session 9' that was filmed inside danvers. it's super cool/creepy to see the inside of the hospital. it's very prison-like. there are hallways & stairways separated by ceiling to floor chain link fencing. one side is for staff, the other for patients.

there is NO amount of money that you could pay me to walk down that underground brick hallway alone. but sadly, if a certain guy looked at me with his BIG BLUE EYES and said "if you go down that hallway, in the dark, by yourself... i'll spend the next 24 hours with you".... i'd go. and i'd go smiling... but with a bit of pee running down my leg.
