playing catch up...

once again, i've neglected the blog for weeks. today will be a 'catch up' post... i'll cram it with a recipe, a dude and a dog, and we'll see what else :)

k, first the recipe!
i got this recipe from one of my fave recipe blogs! the girl who writes this blog is a holistic nutritionist. not only does she give you cool recipes, she'll explain why some of the ingredients are beneficial to our health. i love it. i love her. i love the recipes.
this recipe is delish! it doesn't taste like hippy-hemp-tree hugger-granola bars. the bars aren't crunchy like you'd expect, they're soft and chewy. it totally tastes like banana nut bread. they're amazing.
pic from 'my new roots' blog

Hemp Protein Granola Bars
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
3/4 cup walnuts, chopped (or any other nut)
1 cup dates, chopped (or any other dried fruit)
1 cup coconut flakes
1/2 cup hemp protein powder
1/4 cup sesame seeds (i didn't have sesame, so i used flax seeds- just cause i had them ;)
2 Tbsp. poppy seeds
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
3 ripe bananas
1/4 cup sunflower oil (or coconut, olive, walnut…)
2 tsp. vanilla extract
3 Tbsp. maple syrup
2 Tbsp. chia seeds
6 Tbsp. water

1. Preheat oven to 350F.
2. In a small bowl, mix the chia seeds and water together. Set aside.
3. In a large bowl combine the dry ingredients.
4. In a food processor or blender, mix bananas, oil, vanilla, and maple syrup (you can also just mash everything together with a fork). Add chia gel and pulse to mix. Pour wet ingredients over dry ingredients and stir until well combined.
5. Spread the batter evenly into a baking pan (mine was 9" x 13"), and smooth out the top with the back of a spatula. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until edges are golden brown. Let cool completely, store in airtight container and keep in the refrigerator for longer shelf life. You can also freeze these – take one out half an hour before you want a perfect snack!

k, now onto the next thing:
it's been ages since i've done a dudes and dogs post. AGES! i need to jump back on that.
for now, enjoy these few of pics of hugh jackman with his adorable frenchie pup...

he should live somewhere warmer so he doesn't have to wear all these layers. just sayin'... hugh, we know you've got an amazing bod under there, and it's cruel to the universe to cover it up! ;)

and what blog post of mine is complete without mentioning my fave guy on the planet?!
here's jared leto hanging in new york with his friend darren aronofsky (i wish that was my name. darren aronofsky. it rolls right off the tongue. it almost sounds like 1 long, cool word. anyway, darren is a writer, director, producer for films like 'requiem for a dream', 'the wrestler' and most recently 'black swan')
ugh! seriously. this pic does things to me. when jared dresses "normal" (which everyone knows is VERY rare) it drives me crazy, not in a bad way. he's just a normal looking dude in a baseball hat, and his beauty kills me.

picture post...

poor neglected blog. one whole month without any love :(
it's not that i haven't had anything to post, i guess i just got lazy. oops.

i spent part of today at my friends house. they're out of town, and asked henry and i to look after the house and their pup. they live in the wine country area. one side of the house is surrounded by a vineyard, the other side (and entire back of the house) is loaded with horses, and 1 donkey. i love it so much. i took advantage of the nice weather, and great property, and took my camera out today.

here's little miss june bug! she's such a sweet, smart girl. she needs to be a tv/movie dog. she learns so fast and would do anything for a tiny chunk of chicken... or a toy... or just some praise and love.

beautiful wildflowers

when we were out back admiring the horses, we saw this little pup and her mom peeking around the barn. i made kissy sounds, and she came running up to me with the happiest full-body wag ever. i had to hop the fence to give her love. her mom (a stocky, beefy, tough looking girl) came running up super fast. i thought "oh lord, please don't be an over protective, aggressive mom". right then henry said "uh oh! this one doesn't look as friendly!!" mom ran right up to me (as i'm crouched down loving on her kid) and buried her head in my chest. it was precious. i have a feeling if i would've ran from her, she would've chased me... and it wouldn't have ended as nicely. i'm glad she let me show her some love as well. she was a sweet girl... but didn't like the camera at all, so i only have pics of the little girl. wow... that story kinda dragged on, huh?! here let me start over. here's a dog that lives with the horses, behind the house. the end.

i love, seriously LOVE taking pics of animals. the flowers are fun, the beach is nice, the sunsets are pretty... but there's something about taking pics of animals, and seeing their eyes looking straight into the camera, that makes me so happy. (i'm going back tomorrow, and will probably take 20 more pics... of the same animals... but it will still be just as exciting as today.)

to end this loooong post, i have to repost a pic that my friend put on facebook today. it's TOTALLY me (except i'm not drunk, and i'd be holding a water bottle instead of a wine glass).
haha

picture post...

i dogsat this past weekend (what else is new?! ;) i decided to take my camera along when hubs and i walked the girls, micki and willi.
here goes...

we saw something strange in the sky... see that rainbow-y thing in the middle of the picture?! (click on the pics to enlarge them, you'll see it better that way!)
it wasn't the rainbows you're used to. it didn't arch. it wasn't rainy out. it was just 5 or 6 patches of rainbow colors straight up and down.
 another shot.
this was as far as i could zoom in. what the heck is it?! have you ever seen that before?!

happy girl, willi.

guilty girl, micki.
"i may or may not have just eaten poop. mind your own business!"

hubs checking out the setting sun.

this next photo set is me getting caught sneaking pics of him.
what a pouter!

the moon behind naked trees.

finally back up to the house, to settle in for the night.
"jeez aunt t, thanks for telling everybody i may or may not have eaten poop!" :(
