the end of a journey...

last night 30 seconds to mars played their last big show :( they have 2 very small acoustic shows tonight & tomorrow, and then their long 2 year tour is over. although i wasn't able to be in new york for their final shows this week, i was able to watch last nights show in it's entirety (live, in HD!) online. it was an amazing show. i may or may not have cried. three times. i hated seeing them say goodbye, and talk about 'the ending'. i got sad thinking about how i won't hear/see them singing those songs live again. it made me realize how emotionally attached to this band i am! (i may need professional help). they were presented with the guinness world record last night, for longest tour by a rock band. 309 shows in 2 years! absolutely amazing!!! i can't imagine how tired they must be. 2 years seems like a loooong time, but the past 2 years have flown by for me on my journey with mars. i started thinking about the 6 shows i went to, and how amazing they were. i figured out we drove more than 1,320 miles going to and from mars shows the past 2 years!!! to give you an idea of how many miles that is... if i left my house right now and drove north for 1,320 miles, i'd be at the border of washington and canada. just right below vancouver. that's crazy!!! we spent well over 24 hours in the car driving to/from mars shows. we spent HUNDREDSSSS of dollars on tickets, parking, gas and 1 hotel room in vegas. (most of that money was spent parking at the greek theater in LA. ok, i'm exaggerating, but the greek parking was $20... for stacked parking... in a dirt lot. i was shocked. ok, i'm getting off track here.) we saw lots of crazy people. met some new friends from other countries (yes, i still keep in touch with them). took a ton of pictures and videos. sang songs at the top of our lungs. had 5 late-night-post-show-in-n-out-meals :) and made a bunch of memories that i don't think i'll ever forget.
mars hasn't said if they'll record another album in the future. they just keep saying "we need a break. we don't know what the future holds". if they do, i'm certain it won't be for a loooong long long time. i hope they do make another album, and if/when they do, i can guarantee i'll be roadtripping it to more shows. so what if hubs and i will be 40 by then?! i'll still be there!

this is what i'll miss about mars shows. these are the things i won't forget.

jared jumping into the crowds and singing on top of people...

giant balloons and confetti...

jared always putting his hand on his heart when he could hear us singing...

there were sweet moments when he'd bring fans on stage...
(this girl had a sign that said 'j, give me your shirt'. he did. he kissed her on the cheek and put his shirt on her. awww)

and it's not just girls that go crazy.
(i saw this online and thought it was funny;)

last night he brought this tiny little boy on stage...
sa-woooon.

and of course there were many times where the guys just acted silly, and i loved it.
sometimes jared will pull you onstage and play 'would you rather'.
or make you dance in front of thousands of people...

so, yes. i'm sad i won't get to go to these 'parties' anymore. but maybe "we'll meet again" :(
thank you jared, shannon and tomo.

*if you were 1 of the unfortunate people to never attend a mars show. you should watch their video 'closer to the edge' and see what you were missing. if you don't like the music, watch it on mute! ha*
