crush of the week...

i feel kinda weird about this blog post. yeah, i think he's cute, but since he's 5 years younger than me, i feel like i'm crushing on a kid, or 'high school musical' guy. anyway, i have no excuses, i think he's cute... so i guess he'd be considered a crush of the week.

this weeks crush is chace crawford! actor, _______, ________, hottie. look i'll be honest, i don't know anything about him. i've never seen any of his shows or movies. i know he's on a show called gossip girl, but i can't tell you what the show's about, when it's on, or even if it's still on. all i know is that when i've seen him in interviews, or on magazines, or on tmz, i've always thought that he was cute.
(i tried to find the most 'grown-up' looking pics of him, so i don't feel like such a predator. hahaha)
love this.

and a new little portion of 'crush of the week':

yummus...

yummy + hummus = yummus

i've tried hummus before, but wasn't crazy about it. recently my friend, katrina, mentioned (on facebook) that she made some delicious homemade roasted red pepper hummus. i instantly craved it. i dunno what the deal is with me lately, but i've been craving foods that i've previously not liked. (first it was avocados, now hummus. what's next?!). so strange. i asked for the recipe, and made the hummus tonight. it's soooooooo good. i bought pita chips to dip in it, and now i'm in love with pita chips too. they're so crunchy and salty. delicious. i feel it's my duty to share the recipe with you too.

2 cans of garbanzo beans, drained
1 small jar of roasted red peppers, NOT drained
3 whole garlic cloves, peeled
1/4 cup of olive oil
red pepper/cayenne to taste
salt to taste
juice of 1 lemon

blend it in a food processor til creamy.

so easy, huh?!?! i left out the pepper and salt. i was going to salt it afterwards, but since i was eating it with pita chips, they were salty enough. if you're gonna dip carrots or other veggies in it, i'd add salt & pepper.

these are the pita chips i bought.
this could turn into a dangerously addictive snack.

THANKS KAT for sharing your recipe!
ps. years ago hubs and i went to katrina's house (before we were even married) and she had made some super yummy soup. she shared the recipe with me, and i still love it. when she gave me the recipe it consisted of measurements such as 'enough to make it thick', 'as much as you want', etc. i love recipes that aren't precise and you can play around with. i don't know what the soup is called, but in our house it's only referred to as 'trina soup'. she has all the great recipes.

crush of the week...

this weeks crush is curtis stone! chef, tv personality, surfer, aussie hottie. i'd like to think that i 'discovered' curtis, and therefore i have dibs on him. sometime around 2005 i was flipping through the channels and saw a hot guy with an australian accent cooking. of course i stopped on the channel and watched for awhile. i was soon hooked. the show was called 'take home chef' and the hot aussie was curtis stone. i started watching the show almost every time it was on. i loved it... mostly because i thought curtis was so cute and charming (and i also love to cook... but if it were any other chef, i wouldn't have been so interested). years later i was talking to my sister and mentioned curtis, she didn't know who he was, so i 'introduced' him to her, and she fell in love too. she said "why didn't you tell me about him sooner?!?! what other hotties are you hoarding for yourself???" haha. now everybody has jumped on the curtis bandwagon. he's been on 'celebrity apprentice', he's been on oprah several times, he's been on all the morning shows,  he's been a chef on 'the biggest loser', and now he hosts 2 shows called 'top chef masters' and 'americas next great restaurant'. i'm glad he's becoming more known and more successful... but now my chances with him have greatly diminished. bummer. (hahahaha)
you kinda want him to do your dishes, huh?!
6feet 4inches of aussie hotness.
a suit and cons. i love it.
this is from a GQ photo shoot. i kinda love it.

i'm obsessed....

inspired by the neon pics from monday's blog post... i went to rite-aid and bought the most obnoxious, brightest, neon pink nail polish i could find. there were a few to choose from, but i didn't want to spend more than a few dollars on something that i was sure i was gonna use once, then hate. i found a bottle for $2, and it happened to be the brightest of all the pinks there. i came home, gave myself a mani/pedi and applied the first coat of blindingly bright pink. "HOLY COW" i thought... this is ridiculous! i let it dry, then applied the second coat to smooth things out. wow, 2 coats is even more intense than one. my eyes were starting to hurt, like i'd been at the beach, staring at the sun for an hour, without sunglasses. i decided to wear it around the house for awhile to get used to it. i walked downstairs, and stared at my feet every step of the way. not only was the nail polish neon, it was somehow magnetic also. i literally couldn't stop looking at my fingers and toes. after about 20 minutes of having my eyes glued to my hands and feet, mesmerized at every movement they made... i became obsessed. i LOOOOOOOOOVED what i was seeing! everything you do looks better when you have neon pink nails.... EVERYTHING! i stared at my fingers while i was cooking, i stared (in the mirror) at my hands when i was washing my face and brushing my teeth. i stared at my hands while typing on the computer, while grabbing my fork when eating, while petting my cat, while grabbing toilet paper when i was going to the bathroom... i couldn't stop. now about 24 hours later, i'm still in love.
i am obsessed with my neon pink nails.

i wanted to share a picture, but none of the pics i took showed the exact neon-ness of the actual color. the pics just aren't bright enough. oh well. that pic was as good as i could get.... just imagine the pink way more intense. it looks so mild and a nice soft pink in the pic... don't be fooled. my nails will blind you.

dudes and dogs...

oops! i forgot to do dudes and dogs yesterday.

bradley cooper
after doing some research for dudes and dogs, i've fallen in love with coop (yeah, that's what i call him now) :)
he is a HUGE animal lover.
kisses from a military k-9
coop and his rescue girl, charlotte
he says he sneaks her on film sets, even though she's not allowed :)
saying bye to charlotte at the airport
so adorable!
he found out about a 14 year old german shorthaired pointer, samson, that was going to be euthanized in 3 weeks at a shelter. he felt bad for the old guy, so he adopted him. samson got to live out the last year of his life with coop and charlotte. after samson died, coop wanted to honor him, so he had a giant photo printed of a close up of samson's eye. it now hangs in his house. this is that photo... and charlotte is lying under the table.
*sigh*

weekend joys...

happy monday!
i felt like posting something today, but didn't know what. so i figured i'd show you some of the things that i loved from this past weekend.

the royal wedding!
yes, so many people thought it was overrated & ridiculous. i on the other hand, loved every second of it! i couldn't get enough! i loved when prince william saw kate for the first time and if you read his lips you could see he said "you look beautiful". awww, so sweet.
they look so happy :)
i loved the dress. i loved the tiara...
i loved the kiss. i loved it all!
did you see david beckham there! yowza!

on saturday, hubs and i had a mini pizza party. just the 2 of us. we don't eat pizza often, and i NEVER drink soda... but we ordered pizza and had root beers. it was DELICIOUS! i loved it!

i also found some fun pics online from a 30 seconds to mars show this weekend in jersey. they had another theme night. neon night. jared does not mess around when it comes to theme nights... he goes all out. i love it!
i love them.
homemade glow-stick medallion necklace.
neon orange nail polish. glow-sticks taped to his knees.
how can you not love him?!
shannon even had neon drum sticks
(this doesn't go with the neon night pics. but i had to post it. a week or 2 ago they played a show with a 'military/camo' night. you would think they'd wear something comfy & easy to play in... like camo cargo pants, etc. nope. this is what tomo wore... the entire show. how do you play guitar in this?!)
sniper ghillie suit. that's dedication!

and lastly, we got a new tv (and we also rearranged the living room). we got to get rid of the old, bulky tv that was in our bedroom, and move the existing living room tv to the bedroom. so it kinda feels like we got 2 new tv's, haha. i love it!
i don't have a pic of our new tv. but here is
another happy couple picking out their new tv.
