it's not fair...

sometimes life isn't fair.

like, how come when i'm on a plane (which isn't often) i'm stuck next to people like this:

i never get 'stuck' next to jared leto and brandon boyd.

and then when i'm out shopping at the mall, THESE are the people that are walking in front of me... slowly... stopping in front of every store window... trying to decide between wetzels pretzels or cinnabon

it's never THESE guys that are inconveniencing me, and taking their sweet time strolling through the mall

and at the beach... don't even get me started! i always have these next few people throwing their towels down near mine:
sweet fanny pack, bro.

what is this magical beach where jared and brandon are hanging out?!?!

it's probably better that i don't know. cause the two of them together is probably too much for my eyeballs. way too much.
these boys.

hand-some...

this might be the strangest confession you'll see on my blog. hands down ;)
i like hands. there. the end!

k, fine, i'll explain. wait, i don't think there is much to explain. some people are 'butt people', some 'teeth people', some 'leg people', whatever-whatever, all body parts are nice, but for some reason i'm always drawn to nice hands. i thought i was a little bit weird, but i keep seeing little jokes/comments online, that make me think i'm not alone. don't get me wrong... it's not some sick fetish or anything, i just find myself often thinking "wow, look at his hands!" yesterday i was browsing pinterest (as usual) and was linked to a blog where a girl was making an ottoman. her husband helped her with part of it and she posted some pictures, then said "...and he has the greatest hands! (i'm a hand girl)." WHAAAAT??? somebody get's me?!?! btw, she was right, he has great hands ;) i also noticed the bio area of her blog says "i love jesus, ..." uhhh, my love of hands can't be that weird, if someone else admits to it AND she loves jesus, right?! i think i'm safe.
anyway, i noticed that when i was at concerts or watching live music videos on youtube, a lot of the time i'm focused on the singer and/or guitar players hands. like mesmerized by them. it just so happens that my 2 fave musicians have GREATTTT hands! how lucky for me! (have you left yet, or are you still here reading???) check 'em out.

brandon boyd

the still pictures are not nearly as impressive as watching him sing/move live. he is so expressive with his hands. here's a video from when incubus played on letterman last year.
i wish i was that microphone

then there's jared leto. not only does he use his hands while singing/playing guitar, he also has the most active hands while telling stories. i love it.

love.

and lastly, my favorite...
hand porn.

k, so whatcha think? am i crazy?! but c'mon, you gotta hand it to me for being honest, right?! can you hand-le the truth?! haha *dork* alright, that's enough hand phrases.
anything you want to confess? :)

the end of a journey...

last night 30 seconds to mars played their last big show :( they have 2 very small acoustic shows tonight & tomorrow, and then their long 2 year tour is over. although i wasn't able to be in new york for their final shows this week, i was able to watch last nights show in it's entirety (live, in HD!) online. it was an amazing show. i may or may not have cried. three times. i hated seeing them say goodbye, and talk about 'the ending'. i got sad thinking about how i won't hear/see them singing those songs live again. it made me realize how emotionally attached to this band i am! (i may need professional help). they were presented with the guinness world record last night, for longest tour by a rock band. 309 shows in 2 years! absolutely amazing!!! i can't imagine how tired they must be. 2 years seems like a loooong time, but the past 2 years have flown by for me on my journey with mars. i started thinking about the 6 shows i went to, and how amazing they were. i figured out we drove more than 1,320 miles going to and from mars shows the past 2 years!!! to give you an idea of how many miles that is... if i left my house right now and drove north for 1,320 miles, i'd be at the border of washington and canada. just right below vancouver. that's crazy!!! we spent well over 24 hours in the car driving to/from mars shows. we spent HUNDREDSSSS of dollars on tickets, parking, gas and 1 hotel room in vegas. (most of that money was spent parking at the greek theater in LA. ok, i'm exaggerating, but the greek parking was $20... for stacked parking... in a dirt lot. i was shocked. ok, i'm getting off track here.) we saw lots of crazy people. met some new friends from other countries (yes, i still keep in touch with them). took a ton of pictures and videos. sang songs at the top of our lungs. had 5 late-night-post-show-in-n-out-meals :) and made a bunch of memories that i don't think i'll ever forget.
mars hasn't said if they'll record another album in the future. they just keep saying "we need a break. we don't know what the future holds". if they do, i'm certain it won't be for a loooong long long time. i hope they do make another album, and if/when they do, i can guarantee i'll be roadtripping it to more shows. so what if hubs and i will be 40 by then?! i'll still be there!

this is what i'll miss about mars shows. these are the things i won't forget.

jared jumping into the crowds and singing on top of people...

giant balloons and confetti...

jared always putting his hand on his heart when he could hear us singing...

there were sweet moments when he'd bring fans on stage...
(this girl had a sign that said 'j, give me your shirt'. he did. he kissed her on the cheek and put his shirt on her. awww)

and it's not just girls that go crazy.
(i saw this online and thought it was funny;)

last night he brought this tiny little boy on stage...
sa-woooon.

and of course there were many times where the guys just acted silly, and i loved it.
sometimes jared will pull you onstage and play 'would you rather'.
or make you dance in front of thousands of people...

so, yes. i'm sad i won't get to go to these 'parties' anymore. but maybe "we'll meet again" :(
thank you jared, shannon and tomo.

*if you were 1 of the unfortunate people to never attend a mars show. you should watch their video 'closer to the edge' and see what you were missing. if you don't like the music, watch it on mute! ha*

moving on...

it's been a week since my last post. i'm still broken hearted, but slowly moving on. (my goal is to NOT cry while typing this! haha). it was a really tough week. the first few days without poontz were soooo tough. the house seemed so quiet and boring. yes, we still have our other cat, dobsie, but it still seemed empty in here. i cried, hysterically at some points, for 4 days straight. on the 5th day i only cried a bit, and it's gotten better every day since. on days 3 and 4 i was telling henry "i'm never gonna get over this! i think i'll still be crying 5 years from now". i'm glad we've had each other this week. we've cried together, we've been angry together, we've comforted each other, and now we're healing together. i still don't think i'll ever get over losing our boy, but now i'm hopeful that at least i won't be crying every.day.for.ev.er. (i say that as i'm tearing up right now! haha here we go again...). dobsie is settling into his role as an only child. he obviously misses his brother, and is confused, but he's soaking up all the extra attention he's getting!!! fyi, he's sitting on the couch next to me right now... totally chowing down on his butthole. nice, dobsie, really nice. i've had lots of people asking me if we'll get another cat. i dunno right now (especially after sharing a couch with a butt munching monster). i will never, ever live without at least 1 pet, but i don't think we'll get a cat anytime soon... not this week anyway ;)
hmmm, what else....
as i'm sure you've heard by now... the casey anthony verdict is in. i'm not gonna get into that, cause i'm soooooooooooooooooooooo angry about it. all i'll say is that i watched that trial every day, i was obsessed with it. after every thing i heard from every person on the stand, i CANNOT believe that girl got away with it!!! ridiculous! now her jailhouse letters are being released and she mentions wanting to have more kids, and possibly adopting. good luck! i don't know what kind of adoption agency is gonna trust you with another baby. sickening.
k, last thing....
the new incubus album comes out on tuesday! it's called 'if not now, when?'. it's gonna be soooo good! i can't wait! the whole album has been leaked, but being the dedicated fan that i am, i haven't illegally listened to it. i've only heard the songs they've released (and played live on an online streaming concert). i've heard 4 songs, and i love them all. it's much more 'chill' than past incubus records. if you listen to the radio often you may have already heard 'adolescents' and 'promises, promises'. i've watched some recent live videos and brandon sounds better than ever. if you're looking for some new music you should REALLY go pick the album up on tuesday. here's my new favorite song:

not just a great song, i think it's a super cool video too!
i love it. all of it.
see the doberman in the video? wanna hear a story about her?
her name is ginger and she belongs to chris kilmore (the dj in incubus). when henry and i saw incubus in san diego (july 2009) we had vip tix... no, not backstage vip tix, but the "vip" tix that cricket amphitheatre offers you. (hmm, i feel like i might've told this story on this blog before. i'm having deja vu. if so, skip this story, sorry). anyway, with our 'vip' tix we were allowed to go to an outdoor lounge area with a bar and refreshments, etc. our vip lounge area was right next to the REAL vip backstage area (only separated by a fence), where the bands buses park & the band hangs out. nobody in our lounge area noticed that... except me. i was looking through the fence and said "henry, that's kilmore right there! with the dog". he said "are you sure?", then he looked and said "haha yep, you're right!". we kinda stared for awhile, luckily he didn't see us. right then 2 drunk guys in our lounge area came over to our fence and said something along the lines of "HOLY SH*T!!! IT'S KILMORE RIGHT THERE!!!! NO WAY DUDE. HOLY SH*T!"...then, like an idiot, one of 'em screams "HEYYYY KILMOOOOOOOORE!!! WHAT UP DUDE?!" i quickly shushed the 2 guys and said "don't make a big scene, you're gonna get everyone rushing over here. be quiet!". kilmore (and ginger) turned, saw us (and the 2 drunk idiots) and ran up to the fence to say hi. the drunks were frantically looking for a pen to have him sign their ticket stubs. "sh*t, we don't have a pen. bro, what the f*ck are we gonna do. sh*t go ask someone quick! hold my beer." i kindly offered my favorite (at the time) pen right as kilmore got to the fence. the drunks got their tix signed and kissed kilmore's a$$ for a bit. i (unlike any other fan in the world) didn't get an autograph, didn't kiss his butt, didn't say "omg, hook me up with brandon boyd!", didn't say "ahhhh, you're like totally my favorite band in pretty much the entire world!". i barely said hi and i immediately crouched down to hang out with/chat with ginger... yep, the dog! a member of 1 of my top 2 fave bands is inches in front of me, and i ignore him to love on his dog. what's wrong with me?! haha kilmore (and ginger) were both very sweet. it was super nice of them to come say hi to us. he thanked us for coming to the show told us he hoped we'd have a good time and walked away. the drunks were stoked with their autographs and walked away. about 10 minutes later they walked back up to henry and i, and 1 of them said "here's your pen back. thank you sooooooooo much". they had now redeemed themselves. i thought it was very nice of them to make a point to return my pen AND thank me. do i need to apologize for calling them drunk idiots on here?! nahhhh. :) i still have that pen, it's now called my 'kilmore pen' ;) haha by the way, the concert was amazing!!!!!
wow, it's 11pm. i better get in bed.

"when it rains......"

gosh, i'm such a horrible blogger lately. sorry. i've missed 2 weeks of 'dudes and dogs', and haven't posted anything other than last weeks crush.
well, have you heard the saying "when it rains... it pours!". it's true, and we've had a storm blowing over this house :( i suppose it's a minor storm compared to other peoples problems... but either way it sucks. here's some of what's been going on. last week hubby was laid off from work. yep, not cool. we had known for awhile that this would be coming, but we didn't know when. he's been home exactly 1 week now. for the past week i've been trying to figure out where we can save money (not eating out, no starbucks, etc). just when i think i've got a good plan going.... last night our cat starts acting funny, and we knew he needed to go to the vet. of course he starts acting strange AFTER the vet has closed, so our only option is the 24 hour emergency vet. my first reaction was "really cat? REALLY? at 8pm? you bastard" then i felt bad for him. i knew he was in pain, and he's my little baby, and i love him. we loaded the miserable feline into the cat carrier and hubs drove him out to temecula to the ER. he screamed and howled the entire way. he's not a fan of car rides. we were certain he had a urinary blockage and would have to be anesthetized and have a catheter, etc. 4 years ago he had this problem, and hundreds of dollars later, and an overnight stay at the hospital, we were told that he would deal with urinary problems his whole life. fantastic! *rolls eyes*. we were lucky last night and the vet said it was just a UTI, no blockage. he didn't have to be sedated, no catheter, no overnight stays etc. just antibiotics and subcutaneous fluids. thank goodness. don't get me wrong... this still wasn't a cheap vet visit. we still forked out hundreds of dollars for the little beast, but i suppose it could've been a lot worse. the monster is home now, resting and has to be given meds twice a day.
how can something so cute cause so much stress?!

then....
as we're getting in bed last night hubby is sucking on some candy or something. i said "what is that?" and he said "a cough drop, my throat and ear have been hurting". fabulous! *rolls eyes*. of course the DAY AFTER his insurance expires he's gonna get a sore throat and/or ear infection. his body couldn't have started feeling ill before he was laid off and still had health insurance.... it had to start feeling sick the day after he no longer has insurance. he's a pretty tough guy and said "i'm sure it'll feel better in the morning. don't worry". haaaaaaa "don't worry?!?!", he must've forgotten who he was talking to. he is married to the biggest worrywart in the world. {online definition of worrywart: one who worries excessively and needlessly. - YEP, THAT'S ME!}. i'm hoping he and the cat both feel better soon.
so now we're eating ramen every night this week. haha i'm kidding. but seriously cat, i would soooo much rather spend money on concert tix! 1 of my favorite bands, incubus, has just released their tour schedule and i would've loved to spend hundreds on VIP tix rather than an emergency vet. oh and my car needs 2 new tires (we bought the other 2 new tires a couple weeks ago), another fun purchase. sooooo that's what's going on in this home. i'm hoping things will start looking up now.
dear incubus, i will trade u 1 special needs cat & 2 bald tires for 2 VIP concert tix.
thanks. gratefully, me :)

now for some randomness:
1.) have any of you been watching the casey anthony trial on HLN or TruTV? it's day 8 of the trial, and i can't stop watching. it's crazy!
2.) we have a raccoon friend that comes over every year. her name is petunia the raccoonia, or just petunia :) she came over a few nights ago, it was the first time i've seen her this year. she makes me soooo happy! this is her 3rd year visiting us. she came when she was younger with another raccoon (possibly her mom). last year she came by A LOT and ended up bringing her 6 little babies by to see us too. they were the cutest things you've ever seen! it was 1 of the highlights of my year last year. and now she's back again. she has 'mom boobs' again, so i think she might have new babies somewhere. i hope she'll bring them by. i should do an entire post on petunia. maybe 1 day. i have lots of pics and vids. this is a video from december 2010 (unfortunately taken on hubs' phone). she's patiently waiting by the door while beast-cat checks her out.

so anyway. yeah. that's all for now.

crush of the week...

if you're only into the stereotypical good looking guy (perfect body, pretty face, blue eyes, blonde hair, etc), then you don't need to read any further.  take a break and go check your facebook/twitter/email/whatever and check back here another day.

this weeks crush is simon neil! singer, songwriter, musician, scottie-hottie. simon is the frontman of the band biffy clyro. yeah he's a bearded, sweaty, tattooed, guy... but he's a rocker, he has a nice smile, pretty eyes, and a scottish accent, and i like him!!! in every picture i've seen of him with one of his fans, he always has the sweetest, most genuine smile. he seems like such a cool guy.

other than his face, and voice... you know what else i like?!
i don't think i've seen a pic of him onstage wearing regular jeans. he's always wearing bright pants.... and i don't think he's ever wearing underwear, cause the top of his bum is always showing... and i'm ok with that ;) check out these pants!
bum peeking out ;)
purple...
light blue...
white...
pink (probably my favorite pair)...
and BRIGHT orange!

this is my favorite biffy clyro song.
(don't you love the crowd singing along in the beginning?!)

i was gonna link a video of an interview too, just so you could hear his scottish accent. but i figured after 16 pictures AND a youtube video, you've probably had enough ;)
